Asphalt Crack Sealing
Sealtec and our affiliates brought hot applied crack sealing to British Columbia over 40 years ago. It is now an integral part of any good pavement maintenance program. We offer services in non-routed and routed crack sealing from large highway projects, cities and towns, to bridges, parking lots, airports, and stratas.
FIX DAMAGED PAVEMENT
Random cracks stay sealed 50% longer when they are routed and sealed with a quality sealant.
Hot Applied Crack Sealing (routed and non routed)
Asphalt is a long-lasting and durable surface, however, occasional maintenance is required in order to ensure that the pavement will last for decades. Crack Sealing is an important part of your maintenance plan. Cracks and surface damage may look insignificant but will allow water to seep in the sub base. With the movement of the pavement due to changes in temperature and freezing, this water propagates more damage.
Hot applied asphalt crack sealing is your first line of defense and is a simple and cost-effective way to ensure that your pavement lasts as long as possible. By sealing the cracks in asphalt, you are ensuring that water will not penetrate your subbase. This will slow down the degradation of your surface and extend the life of your asset. Sealing cracks involves a flexible, hot-applied polymer-modified sealant that is engineered to bond to the asphalt walls and surface of the crack.
Sealtec uses Crafco brand sealants. Continuously proven to be the longest-lasting crack sealants on the market, the 100+ variations of crack sealants are formulated to perform in specific climates, elevations, slopes, and traffic conditions. You can be sure that there is a crack sealant engineered to be the best solution for your individual pavement preservation needs. Please contact Sealtec for an estimate or advice on saving your asphalt asset. Together, we will determine the most suitable method and choice of material for your asphalt surface.
Cold Applied or Emulisified Crack Filling
This type of crack sealing is often retained by major highways and highway owners and stakeholders as an important tool in preserving roads. Intended for cracks that have been damaged past the point of being able to seal using the hot applied sealants, but aren’t ready to be repaved yet. The polymer modified asphalt emulsion filler applied once the cracks have been cleaned of debris. Sand is added to the surface and becomes an integral part of the repair. The emulsion “kicks” with the sand and is left to cure. It is an excellent way to prevent moisture and expansion and can be an important part of a roadway pavement preservation system. This method is also used prior to large highway sealcoating projects.
